New Exhibition – Black Mothers in the Forefront: Struggles and Resistance in the 1970s
Dr Miranda Armstrong, a research associate working on the Archiving the Inner City project has produced a brilliant new exhibition for the Black Cultural Archives. The exhibition is titled ‘Black Mothers in the Forefront: Struggles and Resistance in the 1970s’, and can be found here. The exhibition focuses on Black women’s experiences of motherhood and resistance in the 1970s, exploring how Black mothers at that time fought on multiple fronts for access to social services which would better both their lives and the lives of their children. A fascinating interview with Miranda about her work at the Black Cultural Archives can be accessed here.
